Chad Greenway a Pro Bowler!

Bookmark and Share

Eden Prairie, MN (January 9, 2012) Minnesota Vikings LB Chad Greenway has been named to his 1st Pro Bowl after recording a personal-best 174 tackles in 2011. “I’m excited to be going to the Pro Bowl, representing the Vikings and to be there with Jared. I couldn’t have done it without a lot of help and support from my teammates and coaches. Even though we didn’t have the kind of season we wanted to as far as winning games, we have guys who are proud and want to get back to the top. I’m honored to be thought of as a Pro Bowler and will make the most of the opportunity,” said Greenway.

Greenway has now led the Vikings in tackles from 2008-2011. He set a career-high in tackles with 22 against the Oakland Raiders this season which ranks as the 2nd most tackles in a game in the Vikings 51-year history. Greenway finished the season with 174 total tackles (104 solo, 70 assisted), 13 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 1 fumble recovered.

The South Dakota native will replace Chicago linebacker Lance Briggs who is unable to play due to an injury. This marks the second straight season where a Vikings’ LB has been selected to the Pro Bowl as E.J. Henderson was named last season. Since 2006, the Vikings have sent 3 of the past 4 players selected in the 1st round to the Pro Bowl (Greenway, Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin).

Greenway was also named the Vikings 2011 Community Man of the Year. Head to www.greenway52.com for more information about Chad’s community efforts.
