One person was killed in a car accident on Interstate 90 in central South Dakota Wednesday morning.
Public safety officials say the driver of a 2002 Ford Explorer traveling east on I-90 lost control of the vehicle, crossed the median into the westbound lanes of the interstate, and collided with a 2003 Ford Explorer. The accident happened about 1.5 miles west of Kimball shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Officials say the driver of the 2002 vehicle died at the scene. Two passengers of that vehicle and the driver of the 2003 SUV suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital in Chamberlain.
Troopers say everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt. Names are not being released at this time pending notification of relatives.
The SD Highway Patrol continues its investigation of the accident.
