Getting To Know The Man Behind the Giveaways

Bookmark and Share

Just like any other day Pastor Jeff Hayes is off to work. He opens the door to his office and gets started.  On Sundays you can find him giving sermons but during the week many know him for helping those in need.

So what is it he’s learned over the years?  “I've learned we serve a big God and his pantry is never empty,” answers Hayes.

In 2009 Pastor Hayes decided to start a food pantry to help out the community, and from there he got a request from Feeding South Dakota to hold an event.  100 people showed up to that first of many giveaways and what has happened from there, he says is a miracle.

"So many times I'll call my wife and say it doesn't look like we're going to have very much food today and like last Friday at the end of the day they brought out two trucks of food,” says Hayes.

To some he is known as the man with the many giveaways, and to others he is known as simply Jeff Hayes.  Over the last couple of years Pastor Jeff Hayes has donated over 2,000,000 pounds of food, but as far as his favorite food of choice, he says are Ho Hos.

But when it comes down to it, in Pastor Jeff's eyes the food giveaways are just a small part of what he wants to be remembered by.

“I'm not perfect of course, I'm still working on that but I hope that by the end of my life people will say, when I think of Jeff Hayes he was a Christian,” says Hayes.
