Skyforce Acquire Keith Benson

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Jan. 26, 2012) The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired center Keith Benson from the available player pool. To make room for him on the roster the team waived forward Anthony Mason, Jr. due to injury. He is expected to be in uniform tomorrow night as the Skyforce visits the Erie BayHawks at 6 p.m. CT. The active roster now stands at 10 players.

 

Benson was waived by the Atlanta Hawks in training camp after being selected in the second round (48th overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft. He averaged 14.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in four seasons (135 games) at Oakland University. The 6-11, 230-pound center was named The Summit League Player of the Year twice (2009-10, ’10-11) and Defensive Player of the Year last season after averaging 3.6 blocks. He won the Lou Henson Award, given to the nation’s top mid-major player, after averaging 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 blocks as a junior.
