VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team learned Monday evening that it will host Texas State University Sat., Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. as part of the 10th Annual Sears BracketBusters, which was announced on ESPNU.

“We are looking forward to being part of a national event,” Coyote head coach Dave Boots said.  “This will be another new experience for our fans, players and coaches.”

The 2012 edition of Sears BracketBusters features its largest pool in the event’s history with 142 teams, including Butler and Virginia Commonwealth who reached the 2011 Final Four in Houston, Texas.  The 142-team field will feature teams from 16 conferences: 12 teams each from Colonial Athletic Association, Mid-American Conference and Southland; 11 each from Ohio Valley Conference and Big South; 10 each from Horizon League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Missouri Valley and The Summit League; nine each from America East, Big Sky and Big West; eight from the Western Athletic Association; four from the Southern Conference; three from the MEAC; and two from the West Coast Conference.

"We are excited about having all 10 teams participate in the Sears BracketBusters and tonight's announcement of the pairings is generating a tremendous buzz around the league," said Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple. "These matchups provide an additional opportunity for image enhancement beyond our league's current No. 13 RPI ranking and signature victories by member schools. Having two nationally-televised games will be a tremendous boost for our league's national exposure and being part of this nationally-recognized event only helps add to the enthusiasm on each campus."

As part of the agreement, all 13 of the Sears BracketBusters home teams in televised games, as well as the remaining 58 home squads, including the Coyotes, will play a return game at the home facility of their opponent in November or December of the 2013-14 season.

The Summit League's top two teams in the standings, Oral Roberts and South Dakota State, each were selected among the 13 televised matchups. ORU, who is making its seventh BracketBuster appearance, will host current Mid-American Conference leader Akron on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN/ESPN2. SDSU, making its second appearance in the event, will host Buffalo, also from the MAC, at Noon CT on ESPNU.

Prior to this season, only four Summit League teams had participated in the event. Oral Roberts is 3-3 all-time, while North Dakota State is 1-0 (2009), South Dakota State is 0-1 (2009) and former league member Valparaiso was 1-2 (2005-2007) while it was in the Summit League.
