MBB: SDSU Gets Nationally Televised Game For BracketBusters

Bookmark and Share

The South Dakota State men’s basketball team learned on Monday that they host the University at Buffalo Bulls in the SEARS BracketBusters on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 12 p.m. live on ESPNU.

“Playing in a BracketBusters game live on ESPNU gives us a great opportunity to put our state, our university and our athletic program in front of a national audience,” SDSU Director of Athletics Justin Sell said. “It gives us a chance to showcase this group of guys and a competitive basketball team that scores 80 points a game and is fun to watch. Hopefully we can use this game as a building block to carry us into The Summit League Tournament and beyond.

Buffalo currently ranks third in the MAC East Division with a 12-6 overall record and a 5-2 record in conference play, while the Jackrabbits rank second in The Summit League standings with a 17-6 overall record and a 9-2 mark in league play.

The game between the Jackrabbits and Bulls not only marks the first meeting between the two teams, but it also marks the first-ever nationally televised game from Frost Arena.

“I’m truly excited for our basketball team, our students and our fans to get the opportunity to show the rest of the nation what being a Jackrabbit is all about,” added Sell. “I think our style of play, the quality of our players and our unique Jackrabbit mascot should help us pick up fans from across the country that would like to see us do well and advance to the NCAA Tournament.”

The noon start time and televised game may force SDSU Athletics to change the start time for the Jackrabbit women's game against North Dakota State on Feb. 18, scheduled tostart at 5 p.m. Stay with GoJacks.com for any changes to women's game and for any ticketing updates concerning both games.
