VERMILLION, S.D. - - South Dakota senior Amber Hegge has been honored as the College Sports Madness Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. It is the first time that Hegge has been recognized by College Sports Madness.

College Sports Madness (www.collegesportsmadness.com) identifies the highest impact players nationally and from each conference in a weekly feature.

Hegge (Crofton, Neb.) had an outstanding game in the Coyotes’ 60-54 win over Missouri-Kansas City on Feb. 4 at the DakotaDome.  She recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds as South Dakota won for the fifth straight time.

Hegge leads the Coyotes in scoring (18.5 points per game), rebounding (8.7) and steals (35).

South Dakota resumes action Tuesday at home against Nebraska-Omaha for a 7 p.m. contest.
