A man accused of killing a woman on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota has pleaded not guilty to murder.
Fifty-four-year-old Lawrence Whipple of Mission is accused of cutting and stabbing the throat of Loretta Waugh on Feb. 7. He was indicted a week later by a federal grand jury.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Whipple could face life in prison if convicted.
