SDSU Women to Play Purdue Saturday

BROOKINGS, S.D. — The South Dakota State University women's basketball team will square off against host Purdue in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time (12:30 p.m. Central) at Mackey Arena on the Purdue campus. Television coverage will be on ESPN2.


Both teams enter the matchup with 24-8 overall records. SDSU, which is making its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, is seeded 13th after winning both the Summit League regular season and postseason titles. The fourth-seeded Boilermakers won the Big Ten tournament championship in double overtime over Nebraska. Former Stanley County standout Sam Ostarello standout is a forward for the Boilersmakers.


The winner of Saturday's game will face either fifth-seeded South Carolina or 12th-seeded Eastern Michigan on Monday (March 19). Purdue has won each of the previous two meetings with the Jackrabbits.
