An Eagle Butte man accused of beating a man with a tire iron has pleaded guilty in federal court to assault with a dangerous weapon.
Twenty-nine-year-old Curtis Thompson Jr. was accused of retrieving the tire-changing tool from a vehicle and hitting the victim several times in the back and head in the incident last October on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Thompson faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 5.
