A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a vehicle Wednesday evening in western Sioux Falls.
Authorities blocked off a section of 26th Street near Hyvee and Marion Road, just before 6 p.m.
Police say an Envoy was turning left onto 26th Street when a motorcycle struck the vehicle. The motorcyclist, who was a 37-year-old man, died at the scene. The driver of the Envoy, a 44-year-old man, was not injured.
"He perceived an opening and proceeded to pull out into the intersection to turn left and an east bound Kawasaki motorcycle that was in the far south lane impacted the Envoy stopping at impact," says Lt. Galen Smidt with the Sioux Falls Police Department.
Authorities are still investigating what caused the collision. They say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
