Habitat For Humanity Hosts Groundbreaking

Bookmark and Share

A mother and her four-year-old son put on hard hats and grabbed shovels to help break ground for their future home, with the help of Habitat for Humanity.

The organization hosted their first groundbreaking of the New Year Wednesday, and all women, something that hasn’t happened in nearly 10 years, home will build this future.

Dena Morken, a single mother, said she feels so blessed to be given this opportunity and she can't believe her dreams are coming true.

"To have a home and be safe, be happy, where you can just rest your head, its amazing to me. It's been my dream for a long time now, to be a homeowner and actually being able to build my own home makes it better,” said Morken.

Morken said her son, Lucas, is so excited that he asks her everyday when they're going to start building...she says she promised him that he could hang the first picture.
