Two local governing entities in South Dakota have voted to continue opting out of the state property tax freeze.
The Woonsocket School District has approved a seven-year opt-out that will generate $250,000 annually. The district had been operating on a $150,000 opt-out the last nine years.
Fairview Township in Hanson County has approved continuing an opt-out for $14,900 annually over the next five years.
Both opt-outs will start with 2012 taxes payable in 2013, unless residents object and bring the matter to a vote.
