The lead prosecutor in Brown County says she will consult with the South Dakota attorney general's office on whether any action is warranted against two Aberdeen police officers who crashed their cars at a city intersection.
State's Attorney Kimberly Dorsett says a decision could be weeks away. Meanwhile, Police Chief Don Lanpher Jr. says his department will continue with its own investigation.
The Highway Patrol has wrapped up its probe into the March 18 crash that happened when the two officers responded to a call for help from another officer chasing an assault suspect on foot. The crash sent the cars careening into an apartment building.
The Highway Patrol estimated that one officer was traveling at 58 mph, the other at 18 mph.
