Bail is set at $50,000 for a South Dakota School of Mines and Technology student who police say threatened to pull off a shooting on campus.
Boyce Way, 19, from Mitchell is facing a class 5 felony for allegedly making a terrorist threat. Pennington County State's Attorney Glenn Brenner says a note was found by a School of Mines employee around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning saying there would be a shooting at 11 a.m. that day. The letter went on to say that the dean's house would also be burned.
Brenner says the note had the initials BTK, which was the signature of Kansas serial killer Dennis Rader.
If convicted, Way faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A preliminary hearing will be set at a later date.
