Brookings Blizzard Expecting To Win Right Away

Bookmark and Share

As we told you eariler, Brookings is getting a new junior hockey team with the Alexandria Blizzard relocating to become the Brookings Blizzard.

The Blizzard plan on vying for a division title in it's first season in Brookings too. The team is expecting to return around 16 players from the 2011-2012 squad that went 40-15-5 before falling in the first round of the NAHL playoffs, three games to one, to Austin. Head Coach Doc DelCastillo says if the team can add the right players in the offseason, the Blizzard will be a force to be reckoned with.

"We will be in place to win a divisional championship." DelCastillo says, "I think we have everything in place to win a national championship. I have very, very high expectations."

The Blizzard will remain in the Central Division, the same division the Aberdeen Wings play in. Bismark won the Central Division this past season with a 45-13-2 record.
