Sanford Hosts Science Discovery Days
April 24, 2012 4:32 PM
Hundreds of people, students and teachers, celebrated Science Discovery Days at the Sanford Center today.
Students from around the region took part in hands on activities and experiments, all related to the science field.
Jill Weimer, associate scientist at Sanford Research said this opportunity helps get kids thinking about their future.
"One of the things that we frequently hear from teachers is that no matter how well they teach or how often they use hands on activities in the classrooms, the students want to hear it from the professionals in that field, they want to see what it is that they do, they want to experience that job in real time," said Weimer.
Weimer said she hopes this event exposes the kids to different job opportunities in the science area right here in South Dakota.
This is also the largest event Sanford has held for their student education programs.
