CBB: Hansen Sets Record As Augie Rolls

Augustana's Derek Hansen
set a single-season record with his 79th strikeout of 2012 in Game 1 of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader sweep of Concordia University, St. Paul Wednesday. The Vikings posted 3-2 and 8-2 victories.
Augustana improves to 26-13 (18-6 NSIC), while CU falls to 19-19 (10-14 NSIC).
Hansen (6-3) fanned 10 batters to move his season total to 88--10 more than Owen Hoegh's 78 in 2004. The junior worked 6.1 innings and gave up two runs on five hits. It was his fifth game this season with at least 10 strikeouts.David Borchardt

went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Vikings, including belting a two-run homer in the fourth. Brian Knight
drove in Augustana's other run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
CU's Zach Goodwin (2-2) allowed three runs on six hit in 4.0 innings.
Hewes' two-run shot in the fourth opened scoring, but the Golden Bears got an RBI single from Kyle Dalton for one run in the bottom of the inning.
Augustana pushed its advantage to two runs in the fifth after Brendan Phillips
drilled a lead-off single, took second and third on a pair of wild pitches and scored on Knight's sacrifice fly.
CU plated one more run in the sixth on an RBI double by Greg Larpenter.
Borchardt struck out both batters he faced in the seventh, protecting his team's 3-2 lead.
Hansen contributed at the plate in Game 2, driving in three runs on a 3-for-5 performance. He hit two home runs, bringing his season total to seven.Tony Viger

(4-3) compiled 6.0 shutout innings on the mound. Jacobson struck out two and allowed five hits on the way to his fourth win of the season.
CU's Ben Lemke (2-5) gave up seven runs (three earned) on eight hits in 6.2 innings. Logan Bouts had a pair of RBIs for the Golden Bears.
The Vikings sported a 3-0 lead after three innings as Hansen nailed a solo homer in the second and Knight and Viger laced RBI singles in the third.
A five-run seventh inning stretched Augustana's lead to 8-0. A CU error allowed two Viking runs, Viger had an RBI groundout and Hansen smashed a two-run bomb in the surge.
The Golden Bears scored their only two runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh, getting a two-out, two-RBI double from Bouts.
Neither team would score from there.
Augustana checked in at No. 6 in Wednesday's NCAA Central Region rankings, while CU was seventh.
The Vikings will host Minnesota Duluth in a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
