The son of former South Dakota Gov. George Mickelson has won a Republican nomination for state House.
Mark Mickelson captured a narrow majority of the vote in the newly configured District 13, which includes central and southern Sioux Falls. Steve Westra and Frank Alvine trailed Mickelson in the primary.
The elder Mickelson was a popular governor who died in his second term on a mission to secure economic development opportunities.
Mark Mickelson's grandfather also served in the House and as governor.
