Karbo is True Viking!

Growing up in Norway, Tom Karbo didn't really think he'd wind up running track and cross country for a small college in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Tom Karbo, Augie All-American:"It sounded interesting at first, when I grew up, but I wasn't really decided that I wanted to do it."

But then Augustana Coach Tracy Hellman got involved.

Tracy Hellman-Augie Track & X-Country Coach: " It just started with some leg work, I went over there and contacted some coaches and got some relationships going with coaches over there and got introduced to him and just explained to him the opprotunities we have at Augustana and in the United States."

Karbo signed on and it has worked out extremely well for Augie.

Tracy:"It's been a great fit, he's a great student, he's a great kid, he's a team player."

The junior long distance runner has picked up numerous all-conference and all-American honors and has helped guide both the track and cross country teams to success at the national level.

Tracy:" He's certainly a kid who's elevated our program. When he came in, I felt like we had a good program, but now we're at the upper eschelan of division II and he's been a big part of that."
