Very few can say they're the best at what they do.... but Stephen Rueber is just that....in the field of Taekwondo. Growing up in Canton he fell in love with martial arts....For the last 12 years he's been competing against the best in his sport.
Steve Rueber: "I train anywhere from 15-16 hours a week between my workouts here and class and my workouts at the gym as well."
As a first degree black belt.... he's known to many as the best in the world. Last year came out on top in nationals and won 7 out of 8 regional tournaments. But he's not done yet.
Rueber:"got 3rd in worlds last year..."
Rueber says he hopes his hard work pays off.
Rueber:""What drives me with perseverance and self-discipline, honor and respect to make my friends and family proud to do the best that I can."
And his determination shines through....
Rueter:"I am very very competitive… right now I'm just trying to do justice to Sioux Falls and South Dakota and represent the best I can."
But his aspirations don't stop there... Rueber wants to give back to others.
Rueter:"I'm going to be involved with martial arts and TK for the rest of my life.. maybe I wont be competing forever but I would certainly like to be involved with martial arts as an instructor and as a student."
A competitor and future instructor who has the potential of holding the world in the palm of his hands.
