Cristian Guerrero brings a lot to the sioux falls pheasants.. whether crushing three run dingers..... or gunning runners out at the plate.
But with all he does for the Pheasants .. Cristian wants to do more.
Cristian Guerrero:"I'm happy where we are. But i can do it more I know I can do it more."
And you might recognize the last name guerrero.. his cousin Vladmir was a veteran slugger on a number of teams in the big leagues. Vlad and Cristian actually grew up toghether in the Dominican Republic.
Cristian:"We grew up together. We go to practice together and he's great. He's unbelievalbe."
With his 14 homers and 40 plus RBIs there's no doubt the 32 year old has power..
Cristian:"Early in my career I hit a lot of line drives but in the past 3 years I try to hit a lot mroe for power.. My swing is like normal."
Steve Shirley:"Cristian brings the ability to hit the ball out of the ball park on the ball field. Plays hard. and I think he leads leads by example with his tremendous work ethic."
And manager Steve Shirley says a veteran player like Guerrero is crucial for a young team.
Shirley:"If you're looking for someone to emulate it would be someone like Cristian."
While Cristian Guerrero leads the Pheasants in home runs.. he also hopes to lead them to a better record and a run to the playoffs in the second half of the season..
