A local charity food supplier has received a grant from a major phone company.
Wednesday morning AT&T announced a $6,000 donation to help fund the Backpack Program with Feeding South Dakota.
The 5-year-old program is funded primarily through private donations. Each week during the school year, about 3,000 bags of food are sent out to schools in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities, providing students with a two day supply of food every weekend. Each bag costs about $4 and contains 13 food items.
Currently there are no children on the waiting list for the program.
