Sioux Falls residents can now use water in and outside of their homes after having to put a halt to usage earlier Tuesday.
A corrupted power line created an outage at the water purification plant. Around 7:30 a.m., a contractor was doing underground work over the primary electrical line when a grounding rod hit the power line, causing reduced water production.
City officials say the electrical fault limited the ability to harvest water from the Big Sioux River and from the well field.
On average, the city uses 45 million gallons each day. During the outage, the plant was only able to produce 32 million gallons.
