The man accused of texting, speeding and killing a 33-year-old Sioux Falls man faces new charges Friday.
Brent O'Neal, who just turned 21 Thursday, is now looking at the possibility of spending the rest of life behind bars.
O’Neal was back in court Friday, facing 1st and 2nd degree manslaughter charges.
Police said O’Neal caused a five-car crash Wednesday night, which took the life of motorcyclist Philip Sorensen.
The judge also increased O'Neal's cash bond from $10,000 to $100,000.00.
Officer Sam Clemens said further investigation led to the more serious charges.
"The investigator had talked to the States Attorney and they made that determination, so, he'll be facing that as well," said Clemens.
O'Neal could face up to life in prison and a $50,000.00 fine.
