THE BROOKINGS BANDITS WON THEIR FIRST STATE "A" LEGION BASEBALL TOURNAMENT LAST WEEK WITH THE HELP OF A SENIOR.
MATT THOMAS THREW A COMPLETE GAME WIN IN THE AFTERNOON ON CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY TO HELP THE BANDITS GET TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP THAT NIGHT, PITCHING ALL NINE INNINGS GIVING UP ONE EARNED RUN ON FIVE HITS WHILE FANNING FIVE BATTERS....
Coach Hirschoff says, "A real extrodinary effort by Matt, all weekend long really, but I think he was really put in the spotlight the last day, you know to throw a complete game like I talked about, preserve pitching and then to come back and say hey give me the ball here..."
MATT WON THE HONOR OF PLAYER OF THE YEAR THIS LAST WEEKEND, HAVING A FANTASTIC SEASON INCLUDING HIS STUNNING PERFORMANCE, HE WAS 11 FOR 25 HITTING A BLISTERING .440.
Matt Thomas says, "Just feels amazing, I mean, obvisously the team had a lot to do with that. I mean if we don't win it, I don't think I get that award..."
Coach Hirschoff says, "You know, one thing good about Matt too I know he's much more excited about being a state champion then he is about winning the player of the year award..."
Landon Busch says, "He battles everyday and comes hard and he comes to work every single day and that kind of showed what kind of person he was that he came out and he started the first game and closed the second game..."
Matt Thomas says, "Amazing, I mean everything I'd hoped it would be from the beginning, I mean after the spring season I didn't know quite how the season was going to come, but we really came together as a team and it turned out really well..."
A GREAT RUN THAT MATT AND THE TEAM HOPE, DOESN'T END.
