The Drought Continues, But it's Not Getting Worse

Another week goes by and still very little relief in the rainfall bucket. While conditions north of highway 14 have improved slightly over the last week or two, the south remains entrenched in a full-blown extreme drought. There is some good news though; it’s not getting any worse. With near average rainfall through the first half of August for a lot of us, it appears like conditions are not deteriorating any further. Now there even appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel. New information leads us to believe that the drought will slowly subside through the end of the year with average or even slightly above average precipitation through the remainder of 2012. Keep in mind that its not an exact science, so don’t get your hopes up just yet, but just know that there’s hope for more rainfall as we continue out of the summer months. The information below are the new drought conditions through the 14th of August. You will notice an ever so slight improvement to many of the numbers. |
