Red Raiders Blank DSU in volleyball

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Northwestern (Iowa), member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), recorded a hitting percentage of .364 to sweep Dakota State in three straight sets Tuesday evening at the Bultman Center.
Dakota State dropped their second straight match to start the 2012 season. Northwestern won their fifth straight match to raise their overall record to 5-0.
The Trojans committed 12 attack errors in the opening set, while NWIA had a .421 hitting percentage to earn a 25-7 first set victory.
The Red Raiders won the second set by the score of 25-13 and third set at 25-15.
Taylor Mosco led DSU with six kills and six digs. Stacey Schuller produced nine set assists and six digs.
Kristen DiPaola had seven digs for the Trojans’ defense. Katie Green added six digs.
Karlie Schut and Haley Chambers each had nine kills for Northwestern. Kara Nonnemacher had 12 set assists. Madeline Hannon added 11 assists.
Alexis Bart recorded 18 digs for the Red Raiders. Claire Roesner had three service aces.
Northwestern outhit the Trojans 44-14 in the match. The Trojans committed 22 attack errors compared to the Red Raiders’ 12 attack errors.
NWIA had 52 digs in the match while DSU recorded 37 digs. The Red Raiders had seven blocks compared to DSU’s six blocks.
