NFL Sundays are back and the Vikings were at home for their season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the major question was if Adrian Peterson was going to play.
He did and he made a huge difference in the game. Peterson rushed 17 carries for 84 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-23 win to open the season.
It was a close game as Jacksonville game back and scored on a deep pass from Blaine Gabbert to Cecil Shorts III with 20 second left on the clock and after a two point conversion the Jaguars were up 23-20.
After Ponder drove the offense down the field with 14 second after the kickoff, rookie kicker Blair Walsh hit a 55 yard field goal to tie it and send it into overtime.
In overtime Walsh would hit a 38 yarder to give the Vikings the lead.
With the new overtime rules, since the Vikings only scored a field goal, the Jaguars would have a posession as well. On 4th and three Gabbert again threw deep but came up with nothing. The Vikings win by the final score 26-23.
