DSU wins 3rd straight behind DiPaola's 24 kills

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dakota State produced 44 attacks and .255 hitting efficiency Tuesday evening to sweep Presentation (S.D.) at the Strode Center.  The Trojans defeated the Saints by the scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-16 to extend DSU's winning streak to three matches.

 

Dakota State improved their overall record to 5-6 and had won the last three road matches.  Presentation, a member of NCAA Division III Independent, dropped their overall record to 1-8.

 

Kristen DiPaola, who was selected to the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Female Athlete of the week Monday, smashed a total of 24 kills for DSU.  She recorded a hitting percentage of .457 in the match.  DiPaola added three service aces and 12 digs.

 

Taylor Mosco added six attacks and 1.5 blocks for the Trojans.  Stacey Schuller recorded 22 set assists.

 

Mandi Atkins led DSU's defense with 13 digs.  Katie Green had 10 digs.

 

Karly Fuhrman and Megan Goedert each had seven kills for PC.  Mo Bunny had 12 assists.

 

Tina Boldt recorded 10 digs for the Saints.

 

Dakota State outhit Presentation 44-29 in kills and .255 to .144 in hitting percentage. 

 

The Trojans had 57 digs in the match compared to the Saints' 48. 

 

Dakota State looks to extend their winning streak to four as they continue their action on the road on Thursday night.  The Trojans travel to the Newman Flanagan Center in Sioux City, Iowa to visit Briar Cliff (Iowa) of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.  The Chargers won the first meeting from DSU in a five-set thriller at the DSU Fieldhouse on Aug. 24 (24-26, 18-25, 25-23, 25-13 and 15-8).  First serve in both teams' second meeting of the season is set for 7 p.m.
