MN Woman Pleads Guilty To Kidnapping Walmart Cashier

A Worthington woman has pleaded guilty to kidnapping a cashier at a Walmart in New Ulm In June. 38-year-old Elisheba Swett pleaded guilty Tuesday in Brown County court to charges of kidnapping and making terroristic threats.
She also had faced charges of attempted robbery, fifth-degree assault and misdemeanor theft. Under a plea agreement, Swett admitted going to the Walmart, taking a cashier hostage and forcing her into the parking lot.
Swett said there was a bomb in the store. According to the complaint, witnesses said Swett released the clerk when police arrived but resisted arrest. Police evacuated the store and searched it but did not find a bomb. Sentencing is set for Oct. 16.
