Many firemen were up Saturday morning buckling down on parents about the proper use of buckling their child up.
The Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue held a car seat safety event for ‘Child Safety Seat Week.’ Parents had the opportunity to drive their cars into the fire station and have the firemen make sure their car seats were the right weight limit for each child. The firemen weighed the child and adjusted the straps on each seat for a safer ride.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue Captain, Grant VanRiesen said, “We pull up to vehicles and it is unfortunate how many kids are unrestrained in a vehicle. We suggest that until age 13, all kids ride in back seat as long as possible."
Sioux falls Fire Rescue says if you or someone you know can’t afford a car seat for your child and need some financial assistance, a car seat can be provided free of charge.
