Around 25 adults and children went to the downtown Sioux Falls library Sunday to get their word on.
In celebration of September being literacy month, the Sioux Falls Literacy Council held an event Sunday afternoon for people to play all sorts of word games, at Wordfest.
There was Redneck Scrabble, Word Within a Word, some Boggle and Banana Grams.
For years the event was a Scrabble Tournament, but this year, the council wanted to make it more family friendly.
"It can be a little intimidating, so we really wanted to bring literacy back down to more of a family level, because most 5th and 6th graders wouldn't be able to compete at a traditional scramble tournament. So we really wanted to make it something that was family fun,” said Paige Carda of Sioux Falls Literacy Council.
The council focuses on adult literacy, and they said if you or someone you know wants to get better reading or writing skills to go visit them at their office. The office is located in the non-profit building in Sioux Falls.
