The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has arrested two people after chase in southeastern South Dakota at speeds that exceeded 100 mph and lasted more than an hour.
Douglas County Deputy Sgt. Jason Babl said charges were still pending in the case.
Babl says the chase began about 11 a.m. Thursday when he and another officer attempted to stop a vehicle going 90 mph in a 55 mph zone, but the driver refused to stop. He says officers from the Charles Mix County Sheriff's Office, the Wagner Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs all joined in the chase, which lasted about an hour and 15 minutes.
Babl says the chase ended when the suspects' vehicle apparently ran out of gas.
