Names Released In Fatal McCook Co. Crash

Authorities have released the name of the man killed in a crash in McCook County Wednesday afternoon.

Highway patrol officials say 43-year-old Ward Ross of Sioux Falls suffered fatal injuries when his Chevy Corsica collided with a 2011 Lexus at the intersection of Highway 38 and 431st Avenue, about three miles south of Spencer. Both vehicles rolled into the ditch shortly before 2 p.m.

The driver of the Lexus, 65-year-old Dorothy Nipp of Omaha, and her passenger suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Officials say Nipp and her passenger were both wearing seat belts. Ross was not wearing a seat belt.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
