The Tea Fire Department went door-to-door Tuesday night, for “Operation Edith,” an exit drill for homes in case of a fire emergency.
Six fire trucks, turned on their lights and sirens to get the town's attention and practice annual safety drills.
Captain Brett Miller said if there's a fire emergency, the best place to go is in the front yard, near a light pole, or any other spot a household can designate as a safe spot.
"If there is a fire, they know exactly where to go and then the parent can come up to us and say, hey, my family's out, then we can go to work," said Miller.
Captain Miller also said this is the perfect time for people to change batteries in their smoke detectors.
