A Harrisburg family escaped their home after an early morning garage fire.
Firefighters responded to 405 Prairie Street in Harrisburg around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Officials aren't sure where exactly the fire started but they were able to contain it to the garage area.
The home's main floor received some smoke damage.
The family was home at the time and there were no injuries. A cat and a dog were rescued.
When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the garage.
"We opened up the roof and found nothing in the attic area so basically the fire was contained to the garage," Harrisburg Fire Chief Bill Fink said.
Two cars and a motorcycle in the garage received smoke damage.
Around 30 firefighters from the Harrisburg, Tea and Sioux Falls fire departments responded. The fire was contained around 3 a.m.
