A state senator from Rapid City is suing South Dakota Secretary of State Jason Gant over a voter guide.
Sen. Stan Adelstein says Gant broke the law by not including opposition statements on four proposed constitutional amendments on the November ballot. Gant says he sought people to present opposing views but had no takers. He says he followed the law.
The informational pamphlets are available online and were sent to news outlets and county auditors in late August to help them inform voters. Adelstein's lawsuit asks that the pamphlets be recalled and new ones printed, with Adelstein's opposing view on a proposed balanced budget amendment.
