A high school football coach in Des Moines has been fired over reports he bullied a player.
After 12 seasons with the Lincoln Railsplitters, Tom Mihalovich will no longer lead the team. At a special meeting, the Des Moines school board voted to fire Mihalovich.
Mihalovich and his assistants were put on paid administrative leave on September fifth, following allegations they harassed, bullied, and inflicted corporal punishment on Dante Campero, who was then a Lincoln High football player.
An investigation by the school showed Mihalovich made Campero run extra laps and forced him to read out-loud a tweet he made slamming the varsity team.
Mihalovich says despite the three and a half our debate at the board meeting he knew he would be fired. An assistant coach has been fired earlier.
