SFPD Joining In The Fight

Along with so many others this October, the Sioux Falls Police Department is joining in the fight against breast cancer.

Many officers are wearing bright pink t-shirts under their uniforms. The initiative came from Officer Michelle Paulsen as a way to help raise awareness about breast cancer. She says her aunt passed away a year ago from breast cancer. Her grandma and her cousin are also breast cancer survivors.

Offficer Michelle Paulsen said, "The pink, obviously, is something that everybody recognizes especially in the month of October and I think it means a lot to them to have us as law enforcement know that we have their back."

Normally, officers wear black or navy colored shirts under their uniform. The pink shirts have a badge on the front and 'Join Us In The Fight' on the back.
