Gerry Stars in Numerous Roles for Warriors

The Sioux Falls Washington Football team is looking to get back to another state title game.

Having another great year and once again many threats to put up a lot of points.

One of those weapons is Senior Nate Gerry.

Nate Gerry says, "The team is playing well right now. That's all that matter to me. Just get the win each week that's all that matters to me and the team."

Working hard in the off-season, to be the number one threat, where opponents have to game plan around him.

Coach Brian Hermanson says, "Well it's nice because teams, for example, when he play offense he's a wide out. We're seeing a lot of teams double cover him, they're starring him and so that's giving other opportunities for our other receivers to catch the ball."

That's just when he plays offense. Gerry is a duel threat, playing safety as well on the defensive side of the ball.

Coach Hermanson says, "On defense, he's a phenominal athlete. He's got great instincts to read. Tremendous downhill player and he's big, he's like a linebacker playing safety, so there's always a big collision."

But shining as a receiver, Gerry gives a lot of the credit to his quarterback John Hander.

Nate Gerry says, "Mostly all of it to be honest with you. He's puts it on the money about 100% of the time. I just kind of run and go catch a ball pretty much."

Not letting his success go to his head, Gerry is committed to Nebraska next year, going to play defense for the Corn Huskers, showing that his hard work is paying off.

Nate Gerry says, "That's one of the main things I look forward to. I just want everybody to know what I am capable of and that's each week, every practice I just give it all, everything I have, 100 % each practice."

Coach Hermanson says, "Well Nate's been a great leader both on and off the field. He's been selected as one of our captains this year. He's got a great work ethic in the weight room, in the classroom and does the same thing out here on the football field."
