Volunteers Participate In Cut-N-Gut

Volunteers from all over the Sioux Empire gathered around at the Great Plains Zoo Wednesday morning for the annual Cut-N-Gut.
But don’t worry! They’re not cutting or gutting any of the animals. In preparation for the annual Halloween extravaganza, ZooBoo; zoo staff and volunteers get creative, carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns that will be used to line the sidewalks and the “Hall of Flames” at this year’s event.
It’s something people of all ages look forward to each year.
“I’ve been volunteering for the Cut-N-Gut now for about four or five years now, and it’s a great time to get together with friends and we carve pumpkins for the ZooBoo,” says Brenda Herr, volunteer.
Visitors are encouraged to keep an eye out for jack-o-lanterns featuring the ever-popular characters such as Shreck, Freddy Krueger, and Micky Mouse.
ZooBoo will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, and from 3:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28.
