SWAT At Standoff In Eastern Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls police continue a standoff with a barricaded subject in the eastern part of the city.

Police say a man barricaded himself inside a home near the 1800 block of East 3rd Street and Highland Avenue around 1 a.m. Friday. Sioux Falls Police say the man is a suicidal subject and has a gun.

Around 2:30 a.m. SWAT arrived on scene and began making communication with the man.

Officials with the Sioux Falls Police Department said that they believe the man is alone in the home.

An official with SFPD said that neighbors should not worry about their safety, but should remain inside their homes.

The SWAT team, Sioux Falls Police, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, and Rural Metro Ambulance remain on the scene.
