US Rep. With Same Name Speaks At McGovern Funeral

A Massachusetts congressman who shares former Sen. George McGovern's last name will speak at his mentor's funeral.
 
Rep. Jim McGovern is no relation to the former three-term U.S. senator from South Dakota. But the Massachusetts congressman worked as an aide in George McGovern's Senate office and also worked in McGovern's unsuccessful presidential bid in 1984.
 
George McGovern, a three-time Democratic presidential candidate, died Sunday. He was 90.
 
Also speaking at George McGovern's funeral in Sioux Falls on Friday is former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle from South Dakota, who has said he entered politics because of McGovern's influence.
 
One of McGovern's grandsons, Matt McGovern, is scheduled to read Bible verses during the funeral.
