Burn Ban Lifted In Minnehaha County

A burn ban put in place in Minnehaha County over the summer was lifted Tuesday because of recent changes in weather conditions.

Minnehaha County Commissioners voted Tuesday morning to lift the ban, which went into effect July 31, at the recommendation of the Minnehaha County Rural Fire Chiefs Association. Repeal of the ban is effective immediately.

Commissioners cite recent moisture and changes in weather conditions as reasons for lifting the ban.

County officials ask anyone who plans to conduct burning operations in ditches or fields to contact Metro Communications at 367-7000 before burning.
