Poll: McGovern Leads Fiegen In PUC Race

A newly released poll shows Democrat Matt McGovern leading Republican incumbent Kristie Fiegen by 6 percent in a race for Public Utilities Commissioner in South Dakota.
Nielson Brothers Polling says a survey of likely votes conducted between Oct. 28-31, 45 percent say they would support McGovern, while 39 percent support Fiegen. Libertarian Russell Clarke gets 5 percent and 11 percent remain undecided.
NBP says Republican candidates hold a lead in other statewide races.
Rep. Kristi Noem leads Democratic challenger Matt Varilek, 50 percent to 44 percent, respectively. In that race, 6 percent of voters surveyed are undecided.
Incumbent Chris Nelson leads Democratic challenger Nick Nemec in the other race for PUC, 58 percent to 28 percent. In that race, 14 percent remain undecided.
NBP says it received between 634-671 responses to various questions in this most recent poll. Margins of error range from 3.78 percent to 3.89 percent.
