The counting of votes was well underway Tuesday night at the Minnehaha County Administrative Building in Sioux Falls.
The counting started off with a slight delay as last minute voters lined up to cast their vote.
At around 7:30 p.m. the last ballot was filled out and troops of boyscouts arrived by the dozen to deliver boxes from the other 70 precincts.
Poll workers wasted no time organizing the boxes by precinct and putting the ballots into the four electronic ballot counters.
Though the arrival of last minute voters caused a later start than planned, the counting was quickly back on track.
County Auditor Bob Litz said he expects the process to finish up by midnight.
