Friday night was a big night for the Sioux Falls Police Department. The Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a home in Northeast Sioux Falls at around 6:30 p.m.
We don't know if they got the information froma tip or it was a part of a bigger investigation but inside the home at 816 N. French Avenue, police would uncover a large amount of drugs.
Officer Sam Clemens said, "There was quite a bit of methamphetamine that was found, a small amountof cocaine, some marijuana, quite a bit of paraphernalia was found there as well."
Police found 143.2 g of meth, and 148.2 g of marijuana. They found more than $1,000 in cash and .7 g of cocaine. But most noteable, nearly 2,000 pills containing psuedoephedrine, one of the key components used to make meth.
"Most of these drug busts we have, we have various amounts of drugs, some quantities are large, some quantities are small but I can't recall seeing this many psuedoephedrine pills at one particular bust before," said Clemens.
Police say it's hard to get pills containing psuedoephedrine considering you have to show an I.D. at the drug store when you buy them. They say you're only allowed to purchase so much of the drug within a certain amount of time.
Clemens said, "Obviously, there's a way around the system and to compile this many pills is pretty substantial."
Police believe the three men, who were inside the home at the time of the search, are responsible. Sixty-three-year-old Lester Estenson is the homeowner. Thirty seven year old Andrew Weaver and 42-year-old Michael Voyles were living at the home. Police say more arrests could be on the way.
Clemens said, "We're going to spend time and talk to the people that are involved and try to figure out who else may be involved."
Estenson was arrested for possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of controlled substance (cocaine), maintaining a residence where drugs are used/stored, violation of a drug free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of 2 oz-1/2 pound of marijuana, possession of 1 oz-1/2 pound of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Weaver was lodged for inhabiting a place where drugs are used/stored and warrant service. Voyles was lodged for inhabiting a place where drugs are used/stored, possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Clemens says based on the report, police have a good idea who else is involved, it's just a matter of locating them.
