New Event Venue Planned for SF

An open space by the Empire Mall is empty now, but by next year it could be home to a new multi-theme event venue.

Jered Johnson is one of the partners in Venue, LLC, that will own the proposed facility.

“We spent a lot of time looking at different area venues in other markets and comparing our market to theirs and seeing where that void would be and we thought Sioux Falls was a great market for this concept,” said Johnson.

Johnson says the location, which will be on a separate lot owned by the Empire Mall is the ideal spot for the venue.

“Economically speaking we think its going to have a big impact on area businesses. The shopping district and being by the mall is excellent. So is the freeway access and hotels,” said Johnson.

He says the project is designed to be versatile.

“It’s going to be something that people are going to be able to go to and dine at it, or enjoy it for corporate event or perhaps a concert. We feel like there are a lot of different opportunities to expand on and open up to Sioux Falls,” said Johnson.

Though no date is set, Johnson says he has a plan in mind for the opening.

"Our goal obviously is in the next 12-15 months to hopefully have something built and ready to utilize,” said Johnson.

While no plans are set in stone as to how big the facility will be and how many people it can accommodate, the space will feature live concerts and have it's own sit-down restaurant.
