Moeller Execution Witness List Released

Officials with the South Dakota Department of Corrections have released the names of those who witnessed the execution of Donald Moeller last month.

Moeller was executed at the South Dakota State Penitentiary Oct. 30. He was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m.

Moeller was convicted and sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl who disappeared after leaving her home to buy sugar for lemonade. He kidnapped Becky O'Connell in May 1990, then raped and stabbed her.

A Certificate of Execution is now on file in Lincoln County. By state law, the document is required to be filed within 10 days of an execution. All witnesses are required to sign it.
